Tim Ma

Tim is a partner in the Melbourne office in the Banking and Finance group. He has over 10 years’ of experience at King & Wood Mallesons.

Tim specialises in infrastructure projects and assets (including PPPs) across a range of sectors. This includes roads, rail, regulated utilities, energy, health and education. Tim advises on the major finance documents and project documents.

In addition, Tim specialises in multiple-source financing platforms. He has strong experience in domestic and international capital markets for Australian issuers including syndicated bank debt, USPP, AMTN, EMTN, 144A and Asian funding sources.

Tim also practices in general financing transactions.

Representative Matters

  • Infrastructure: Acting for sponsors, concessionaires and financiers on bids, acquisitions, financings and ongoing operational matters. This includes acting for Metro Trains Melbourne on its successful bid for “MR4” for the Melbourne metropolitan train franchise. It also includes acting on a large number of economic and social PPPs such as EastLink, Westconnex, Westlink M7, Queensland Motorways, Cross City Tunnel, High Capacity Metro Trains, Victorian Comprehensive Cancer Centre, New Royal Adelaide Hospital, New Bendigo Hospital, Northern Beaches Hospital, Royal North Shore Hospital, Royal Women’s Hospital, Royal Children’s Hospital, Victorian Schools and South Australian Schools.
  • Financing platforms: Acting on financing platforms for issuers including QBE, Ausgrid, ElectraNet, Transurban, Transurban Queensland, ConnectEast, Westlink M7, Genesee & Wyoming Australia and EnergyAustralia. This includes establishing/restructuring security and intercreditor platforms, establishing/restructuring bank debt documentation, establishing structured letter of credit facilities, and advising on programme establishment and inaugural issuances into the domestic and international capital markets.
