KWM Issue Think Tank Report: Law and Practice under the Belt & Road Initiative II

In the five years since its launch and owing to the joint efforts of China and all participant countries, the Belt & Road Initiative has brought about a golden route stretching out in multiple directions, and facilitating exchanges and cooperation. Chinese enterprises have gained remarkable results from their economic and trade cooperation with the Belt & Road countries. China’s outbound direct investments and contracted projects overseas registered strong growth, and batches of major projects have been implemented. During the last few years, King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) has been engaged in over a thousand Belt & Road projects, resulting in extensive practical experience covering all types of cross-border projects across various countries and industries, including energy, transport, infrastructure, manufacturing, finance, services and other key industries.

In 2017, King & Wood Mallesons and the KWM Institute jointly issued the “Think Tank Report: Legal Practice under the Belt & Road Initiative”. The report integrated KWM lawyers’ practical experience and research, and received wide attention and high recognition from the industry. As a follow-up, this “Think Tank Report: Legal Practice under the Belt & Road Initiative II” presents further in-depth analysis of legal risk identification, evaluation, and control throughout Belt & Road projects; features thorough interpretation of the laws and policies on energy, resources, infrastructures, and dispute resolution in Belt & Road countries, and offers focused and instructive case analysis of projects represented by KWM in various countries.
