Ms. Cecilia X.Y. Lou specializes in intellectual property and cross-border technology trade, including the commercialization and operation of intellectual property, the compliance and protection of intellectual property, the transformation of scientific and technological achievements and the management of intellectual property, especially the licensing of brands and technologies in cross-border mergers and acquisitions and the compliance of technology trade, such as the examination and approval of technology import and export, etc. More than 25 years of working experience in the following technical fields or industries: machinery and electronics industry, aircraft and aviation, energy, new materials, steel and alloys, semiconductor manufacturing and equipment, medical devices, computer software, health management, food and fast consumer goods industry, chemical and pharmaceutical industry, etc.
Ms. Lou is skilled in providing clients with intellectual property consulting services in business transactions, including intellectual property due diligence, free implementation investigation (FTO investigation), IP risk screening, technology investment value assessment, IP white paper and technological competitiveness, etc., in areas such as acquisition and merger, listing, private placement, joint venture, technology transfer, establishment of R&D centers, service outsourcing, strategic cooperation, etc., and is skilled in assisting clients in formulating application strategies and ownership arrangements, appointing inventors' reward and remuneration system and incentive mechanism for core personnel, so as to provide business sorting and innovative analysis for the listing of enterprises.
Ms. Lou has extensive experience in IP dispute resolution, especially in areas such as patent, trademark, trade dress and trade secrets. She also frequently represents clients in negotiations, helping clients establish effective IP management systems, especially in areas such as transnational service inventions, confidentiality and non-competition.
Ms. Lou is a member of ACPAA, LES, AIPPI, INTA, AIPLA and SIPSA.
Ms. Lou joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2006.
Ms. Lou received her Bachelor of Science degree in engineering from Dalian University of Technology in 1992. She completed an advanced computer software engineering program at Shanghai University in 1994 and a master program in laws from the China University of Political Science and Law in 2004. She obtained her degree of Master of Law in Intellectual Property Law in 2007 from the John Marshall Law School in Chicago, IL. She obtained her EMBA from Fudan University.
Ms. Lou was admitted as a trademark attorney in 1995 and a patent attorney in 1996.
Her working languages are English, Mandarin, French and Shanghai dialect.
