Mr. Mao Jin specializes in IP litigation.

Mr. Mao has extensive experience in patent invalidation, patent and trade secret infringement litigation. With a special focus on electronic and mechanical technologies, he provides legal services in patent validity analysis, IP litigation and due diligence as well.

With a depth of knowledge in electronics, mechanicals and automation, and years of practical experience, Mr. Mao has represented multinationals in winning influential cases and retrial cases before the Supreme People’s Court, some of which were listed in the Supreme People's Court’s Top 10 significant IP cases. He had represented major telecommunications companies, internet companies, famous multinationals in winning SEP cases, software and internet patent cases and trade secret cases of vital interests before courts in Beijing, Shanghai and Jiangsu.

Mr. Mao was a member of the workgroup on revising the Patent Examination Guideline; and represented PRB providing the Supreme People’s Court with legal opinions regarding the Judicial Interpretation on Deciding Patent Infringement and the Judicial Interpretation on Deciding Patent Right Verification; and drafted some section of the Guideline for Patent Administrative Enforcement. He published several papers in the Patent Research, Chinese Patent and Trademark, Electronics Intellectual Property, China Innovation & Patent,  Arbitration in Beijing relating to SEPs, business method patents, rules of evidence in IP litigation, and IP arbitration.

Work experience

Mr. Mao joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2011. Mr. Mao obtained his B.Sc. degree in electronic information engineering in 2004 and LL.M. degree in Intellectual Property Law in 2007 from Wuhan University. 

He was admitted as an attorney-at-law in 2007 and a Chinese patent attorney in 2010. 

Mr. Mao’s working languages are English and Chinese.
