As partner of King& Wood Mallesons, Mr. Xu specializes in commercial dispute resolution, including domestic litigation, arbitration and international arbitration.

Mr. Xu has extensive experience in cross-border civil and commercial disputes. He has led his team to deal with numerous difficult and complex cross-border disputes, including assisting Chinese clients in complex disputes of cross-border projects in Africa, Europe, Australia,etc., as well as assisting international clients in solving major disputes concerning investment and trade in China. Mr. Xu has represented domestic and international clients in a large number of international arbitration and litigation cases, including institutional and ad hoc arbitration proceedings at the International Chamber of Commerce International Court of Arbitration (ICC), the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC), the Arbitration Institute of the Stockholm Chamber of Commerce (SCC), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and other major arbitration institutions, as well as litigations before the courts in the U.S., China Hong Kong SAR and other jurisdictions. These cases involve Sino-foreign joint venture and cooperation, investment, EPC contracts, international purchase and sale of goods, product liability, and other fields.

Mr. Xu has also represented hundreds of civil and commercial cases in major domestic arbitration institutions and courts, including arbitration cases in China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC), Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), etc. and recognition and enforcement cases in domestic courts of Hong Kong and foreign arbitral awards and judgments. Mr. Xu has dealt with a wide range of domestic disputes, and is especially experienced in fields including equity transfer, investment in private equities, control disputes concerning listed and pro-listed companies. Mr. Xu is capable of combining client’s business targets with creative litigation strategies and solid practical details, aiming to provide clients with practical, long-term, and effective dispute solutions.

Besides, Mr. Xu also serves as legal counsel for many multinational corporations, major SOEs and new financial enterprises.

Work Experience

Mr. Xu joined KWM in 2007. He obtained his bachelor’s degree from Shandong University, double majored in Law and English, and a master’s degree in Law from University of International Business and Economics. In 2012, Mr. Xu was specially chosen by KWM to 4 Pump Court, a leading law firm in London, for the training in dispute resolution practice skills.

Mr. Xu is arbitrator of China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (CIETAC) and Qingdao Arbitration Commission.

Mr. Xu is proficient in Chinese and English.
