Ms. Zhao specializes in foreign direct investment (FDI), mergers and acquisitions (M&A), outbound investment and other corporate matters. She has advised multinational clients in a broad range of sectors including mining, transportation, automobile, dairy farm, sports, lottery, machinery manufacturing, telecommunications, food and consulting, etc.
Ms. Zhao has extensive experience in FDI and M&A. She has participated in numerous projects in advising multinational clients on the most effective structure for their deals, assisting in the evaluation of potential business partners and performing due diligence on target companies or assets. In addition, she helped draft, review and modify transactional documents, and negotiated the relevant documents on behalf of clients'.
Ms. Zhao was one of the first lawyers who advised on outbound investments. She has assisted many large-scale SOEs and private enterprises in obtaining approval from local authorities, providing legal services so as to allow the efficient acquisition on disposal of the target, conducting due diligence investigations, drafting & reviewing legal documents and participating in negotiations.
Ms. Zhao has been involved in many insolvency projects for foreign invested enterprises. In particular she has advised on Independent liquidation and Court Liquidation procedures and provided advice on the procedure and assisted in the drafting of the liquidation report and settlement in the insolvency.
Ms. Zhao has also provided retainer legal services for many large-scale SOEs, including but not limited to company governance, regulatory compliance, labor and employee incentive schemes as well as contract review and related services.

Work experience
Ms. Zhao joined King & Wood Mallesons in 2001. She worked as a secondee at a U.S firm in Washington, D.C. and King & Wood Mallesons' New York office from 2007 to 2008, respectively.
Ms. Zhao obtained her LL.B degree in international economic law from the China University of Politics Science and Law, as well as an LL.M degree from the Georgetown University Law Center. Ms. Zhao is qualified to practice in the PRC and the State of New York, the United States.
Ms. Zhao's working languages are Chinese and English.
